This luna moth was lying in my driveway under the lamp light as I returned from an early morning run, reminding me of the fleeting moments of life. I was struck by her beauty, pondered how I might live if I knew my lifespan were 5 days, and was grateful I could preserve her essence through macro photography. The background is 1/4" deep of beeswax medium that was hand-carved, much like the lines in woodcuts. It seemed to provide an organic and reverent space in which to hold this dear creature. It is framed in a lovely, deep, burled walnut frame.
