This swallowtail wing was found in my garden, photographed and printed onto paper, layered with numerous coatings of wax and then fused, carved edge to edge for organic surface relief, colored with many layers of powdered pigment, with the small broken place in the wing, cut out, revealing an iridescent blue below its’ suface. It reminded me that beneath our tattered spots, lies brilliant beauty. This wing was adhered to a wooden circular tile that is ready to hang in your space, connecting to the beauty of details found in nature and our ability to further abstract that which we see.
