Three more wings will emerge before I wrap up my encaustic offerings for the #artistsupportpledge.  This energy-filled wing rests in a contemplative pose, reflecting the pause to come before exploring my next direction of daily expression as our homeschool year is finishing.  I am filled with gratitude for the generosity and support for these heart-felt offerings— a beautiful exchange! The evocative wings are created from beeswax-layered photography, details carved into the thickly-clouded wax surface to bring the wing back to life before being sculpted into expressive new form and colored with powdered pigment.  They are inspired by the process of metamorphosis— a process which repeats itself many times over the course of our lives, offering endless opportunities for change. The Metamorphosis Series celebrates the life force present in each of us as we challenge ourselves to become more fully alive, a prominent theme in this unprecedented time of change.
